Driver

Chilliwack, BC
Full-time, Permanent

Due to the demands of our growing industry, Valley Waste & Recycling Inc. is looking for a Driver who is able to grow into our Residential, Roll-Off, and Front-End departments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections
  • Answer questions and assist customers and the general public, as needed and ensure customer satisfaction through reliable service
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles
  • Conduct all activities according to the collection schedule
  • Perform curbside, multi-residential, recycling and commercial accounts and in a manner that meets or exceeds contract requirements
  • Driving to customer sites, servicing, delivering, lifting and emptying bins into front-end vehicles and returning the bin to the original location
  • Transfer waste to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location
  • Follow instructions for tasks assigned by dispatch or the area Supervisor
  • Completion of daily documentation including but not limited to daily log books, customer work orders, pre/post trip inspections
  • May be required to climb up ladder on truck to inspect loads
  • Responsible for loading/ unloading, tarping of bins and securing of bins to truck decks
  • Attend all safety meetings and comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Class 3 license with air endorsement
  • 1-2 years driving experience in the waste industry is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the lower mainland area is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Physically fit; able to perform physically demanding job, lift 50 lbs and possess manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions (year round)

Mechanic Shop Labourer

Valley Waste and Recycling Inc is a liquid and solid waste management company that has been servicing the Fraser Valley for over 20 years. We currently have openings for a Shop Labourer to join our team.

The successful candidate for this job will be reliable, hard-working, and a great team player. The Shop Labourer will keep the shop clean and organized, test repaired components and provide assistance to the mechanics with commercial vehicle repair and maintenance work.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, organize, and clean the shop and working environment as needed
  • Test repaired equipment and/or vehicle components for proper performance
  • Maintain equipment and vehicles by cleaning and washing them as needed
  • Provide assistance to the shop mechanics with minor tasks including but not limited to; greasing, oil changes, replacing various components, etc.
  • Perform other miscellaneous labouring activities to help mechanics, service techs, and other workers as required
  • Move tools, equipment, and other materials

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Possess a strong mechanical aptitude

  • Have strong and effective verbal and written communication skills

Mechanic

Valley Waste & Recycling is a liquid and solid waste management company that has been servicing the Fraser Valley for over 20 years. We’re currently seeking a permanent, full-time mechanic. We will accept applications if you are not ticketed.

The successful candidate will be reliable, a team player, and dedicated to providing great work. We’re looking for someone that has at least one year’s experience working on commercial vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform service, repair, diagnostic, and preventative maintenance on commercial trucks and heavy-duty equipment
  • Completion of commercial vehicle inspections (If certified)
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace
  • Talk to customers regarding their vehicle or machinery
  • Complete reports, documentation, and other paperwork as necessary
  • Follow all safe work procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Commercial vehicle mechanic (one year)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
