Driver

Chilliwack, BC

Due to the demands of our growing industry, Valley Waste & Recycling Inc. is looking for a Driver who is able to grow into our Residential, Roll-Off, and Front-End departments.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily pre and post-trip inspections
  • Answer questions and assist customers and the general public, as needed and ensure customer satisfaction through reliable service
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of vehicles
  • Conduct all activities according to the collection schedule
  • Perform curbside, multi-residential, recycling and commercial accounts and in a manner that meets or exceeds contract requirements
  • Driving to customer sites, servicing, delivering, lifting and emptying bins into front-end vehicles and returning the bin to the original location
  • Transfer waste to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location
  • Follow instructions for tasks assigned by dispatch or the area Supervisor
  • Completion of daily documentation including but not limited to daily log books, customer work orders, pre/post trip inspections
  • May be required to climb up ladder on truck to inspect loads
  • Responsible for loading/ unloading, tarping of bins and securing of bins to truck decks
  • Attend all safety meetings and comply with all Company policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Must possess a Class 3 license with air endorsement
  • 1-2 years driving experience in the waste industry is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the lower mainland area is preferred
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks
  • Physically fit; able to perform physically demanding job, lift 50 lbs and possess manual dexterity
  • Ability to work in various outdoor weather conditions (year round)

Transfer Station Equipment Operator – Hope, BC

Valley Waste & Recycling Inc. is a liquid and solid waste management company that has been servicing the Fraser Valley for over 20 years. We pride ourselves in keeping the streets clean, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the communities we serve.

We’re currently seeking to fill our Transfer Station Equipment Operator position at our Hope Transfer Station. The successful candidate for this position will be energetic, an excellent multi-tasker, and have superior customer service skills. We’re looking for a candidate that’s great at time management, is looking for a permanent position, and has experience operating heavy-duty equipment.

 

Job Description:

In this role, you’re responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of various types of equipment as well as maintaining the flow of the Transfer Station. This job is performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Operate equipment such as wheel loaders, excavators, etc. in compliance with the company’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure company equipment, materials, and the worksite are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.
  • Complete all required paperwork, reporting, other documentation, and inspections.
  • Performing the tasks to open and close the Transfer Station according to schedule.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues; may perform minor repairs as required or immediately report any major issues.
  • Maintain the flow of in and outbound waste.
  • Sort and organize inbound loads to determine any waste to be removed from the site.
  • Professional greetings to all customers upon their arrival.
  • Accurately record the weight of incoming waste.
  • Generate weight tickets and receipts for customers.
  • Accept payments.
  • Practice safe work procedures at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Experience & Education:

  • Operation of heavy-duty equipment (2 years – required)
  • Customer Service (1 year – required)
  • Use of a Point Of Sale (POS) machine (1 year – preferred)
  • Class 1 Driver’s License (preferred)
